Two-night stay in Malta – what to do?
You have decided to come to Malta for a quick weekend break, based yourself in Valletta at Casa Rooms properties. Below is a quick two-day travel plan:
Day 1
06:00 – Landed in Malta
07:00 – Go to Upper Barrakka Gardens and watch a beautiful sunrise from there, afterwards take a picture of Renzo Piano’s stunning Parliament House, and proceed to the Triton Fountain, and watch the businessmen, lawyers, and civil servants, rush into the city.
08:30 – Breakfast in Valletta, we definitely recommend Kantina in St John Street or The British Club in Melita Street, for a more local feel.
09:30 – Drop off your baggage at the reasonably priced Casa Rooms luggage storage facility located at 29, Strait Street, Valletta
10:00 – Head to The Malta Experience or Malta 5D to get a quick recap of Malta’s rich history
11:00 – Go to family run Casa Rocca Piccola to understand how Maltese aristocrats used to live
13:00 – Catch a ferry to the Three Cities, make sure to check-out the super yachts in the marina, Inquisitors Palace, and get lost in Cospicua’s narrow pedestrian streets. If you or your children enjoy science, be sure to visit Esplora Interactive Science Centre, in Bighi
14:00 – The Malta Maritime museum is a must for any nautical aficionado
16:00 – Collect your stored bags
16:30 – Head to your apartment and get comfortable
19:00 – Visit Strait Street where there are a host of eateries and night life to while away the evening. You may also wish to consider the Suq food court if you’d like a quick meal.
Day 2
09:30 – Beat the queues and head straight to St John’s co-cathedral, the beauty of this sight is within, don’t be fooled by the simplistic outside frescos
12:00 – Catch a bus to Mdina, make sure to stop at Serkin, widely acclaimed to have Malta’s best “pastizzi” (cheesecakes). Continue by walking through the winding streets of Malta’s medieval capital. Stop for lunch at Fontanella, which has expansive country views of the whole island and enjoy some of the Island’s best cakes.
15:00 – Head to Sliema for some shopping, walk along the promenade in the direction of St Julian’s and have dinner at one the waterfront restaurants. In addition, in St Julian’s there are a number of nightlife entertainment opportunities.
